Position title: Automotive Glass Technician

Department: Bodyshop

Reports to: Bodyshop Manager

 

The Bert Ogden Auto Group is in search of energetic, motivated, and responsible individuals to join our team as Automotive Glass Technicians. It is preferred that applicants interested in this position have experience. To be a successful Glass technician, you must be detail oriented, committed, courteous, and provide excellent results for our organization.

 

Glass Technician Essential Duties:

Glass technicians are to inspect, document and report any prior damage such as stains, scratches, and weathered or broken parts before removal of any exterior moldings, trim clips and retainers, windshield wiper arms and blades, headliners, and interior trim. Test driving and verifying the operation of all ADAS (advanced driver assistance systems) such as adaptive cruise control, lane departure, surround view monitors, or blind spot monitors that operate in conjunction with the windshield or glass. Moving or parking vehicles in their designated areas, delivery of vehicles to other locations, and taking and picking up of coworkers when needed.

 

Glass Technicians Operations  

 

·         Select the appropriate tools, safety equipment, and parts according to the repair order requests

·         Remove broken or damaged glass, windshields or window-glass from vehicles

·         Remove all dirt, foreign matter, and loose glass from damaged areas

·         Follow manufactures recommended procedures for pinch weld primer and apply to all pinch welds, glass or window edges and surfaces needed

·         Follow manufactures recommended procedures for urethanes and apply beads uniformly and level

·         Allow proper cure taking temperature and humidity into account

·         Windshield chip repair

·         Minor glass scratch repair using sanding, compounds and polish

·         Defrost or antenna tab repair on glass

·         Document all information required for invoices, work orders and billing

·         Efficient use of materials

 

Glass Technician Requirement

 

·         Follow OEM specific guidelines and procedures

·         Maintain clean work area

·         Meet the physical demands including walking, crouching, bending, or standing for extended periods of time

·         Remain compliant to all company standards and requests with safety always in mind

·         Maintain good attitude, spirit of cooperation, respect and teamwork

·         Keep company equipment properly serviced, clean, and in good working order and condition

·         Perform other duties as assigned which may include duties outside this job description

·         Maintain a Valid state driver’s license with a good driving record

·         Attention to detail with excellent communication and interpersonal skills

·         Strong work ethic and attendance
